1. Their marriage is like a government
ReplyDelete2.Muslims, Jews, Sikhs, and Christians all eat meat, the first three groups do not eatpork. Lower-caste Hindus eat any meat except beef, where members of the higher castes and all Jains are normally vegetarian, with most even avoiding eggs.
3.farming is the largest source of employment;
1.they believe in the cast system. meaning that if they do good in their life they can be reincarnated into a new person or animal higher in the class but that means you can also go down into the cast if you were not good.

Why do certain genders get certain amounts of work?
They are very different than the united states but I'm not surprised by anything that goes on due to the fact that I learned about the country two years ago. But everything works as a system and there are many rules due to the amount of people and different religions. Even thought the people are free from British rule they are not free among themselves.

Communities are divided by castes systems.
There are between 20 and 30 different castes in one village.
2 things that surprised me:
I didn't know that India was the largest country in the world with a democracy.
I found it weird that South Indian caste systems allow uncle and niece marriages.

Why is the majority of the country religion Hinduism?
The three differences that I have learned about the US culture and India was that there is a large amount of poverty and just like us the have holiday and religion What surprised me was that only there was a religion based on Gandhi's philosophy also and that Gandhi starved himself i wonder what life would be like if Gandhi was alive today

1.I learned that most people live outside. Also that India was ruled by the British government but then in 1885 India became its own government. And about half of people eat rice.
ReplyDelete2. One thing that surprised me was how many people live i India. I knew that it was largely populated. Another thing is that they have poor economy i thought that with that many it would have a poor economy but with not a lot of jobs i see why.
3. One question i have is how do people get money if there are not that many jobs? do they have a systems like us dss or ssi or anything like that?
I learned that India's flag has three colors like ours. They had developed agricultural communities like ours. India, in comparison to us, was also ruled by the British at one point in time and also took their independence back from them. Two things that surprised me are that India's people are divided into thousands of different tribes ad castes and modern-day infrastructure in India was created by the British. How strong is the Indian government?

1.Both India and the U.S are a democracy,India and the U.S are both multicultural,India it's a very large country.

How many kinds of race live in India which is there home and do they like each other or are usually mean to one another?
Reading this article I learned that India was once ruled by the British Empire, that small shops are still a very huge part of their government, and that some Indian castes permit uncle-nieces marriages. Along with the uncle-niece marriage bit, another thing that also surprised me is that India has the biggest film industry in the world. I'm wondering if Gandhi's birth day is a holiday in India.

There are over 1 Billion people in India and the nation is so large it has 4 major languages spoken. The customs are also very different than American customs. Like the role and view of women. The women have to obey their father, husband, and son! Not only that but men also had better education opportunities and much more freedom. Why does India still treat it's women so poorly?

Do people with land control others living area and how do they able to survive and have power?
Things that I learned was that America receives most of India's exports. With the main exports being Clothing, tea, and computer software. India class system is a big part of India as it is very ancient and rigid based off religion(Hinduism karma) determines your way of living, job, and position anywhere. The etiquette of India is similar to ours as Indians are usually very hospitable even when poor and go to considerable lengths to make a visitor feel comfortable. I was surprised to learn that India's GPD is only $380 which makes you really think about poverty when compared to America GPD of around $50,000. Also by the transportation as besides most of the transportation being by railroad that only some of them are even electrified. As the railroad is the most used transportation in the most populated country it makes you think how much pollution is being generated by by coal or steam powered railroads. I wonder is it possible for a non high caste person to become the president of India since it is a democracy and low caste people make most of the population? has it ever happened before?
